he said that it is the opposition which is dividing people on the basis of caste and religion.
The victory of the BJP-NDA in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-elections is a testament to the people’s

unwavering faith in the successful leadership and guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji.

This victory is the result of the security, good governance and public welfare policies of the double engine government and the tireless hard work of dedicated workers,” Adityanath tweeted.

“I express my gratitude to the respected voters of Uttar Pradesh who voted for the good governance and development of Uttar Pradesh and hearty congratulations to all the winning candidates!

‘Batenge toh katenge’. ‘Ek hain toh safe hain,'” he said.

During his campaigns in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Adityanath had amplified his ‘batenge toh katenge’ slogan but faced criticism from the Opposition,

who accused the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi of creating religious divisions.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on Adityanath, calling the slogan one of the most negative ones in history and claiming it echoed the British policy of ‘divide and rule’.

It also received sharp criticism from the Congress, with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge asking if there was any real threat necessitating such a message.

The slogan also faced opposition from the BJP’s Maharashtra ally, the NCP. NCP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar asserted that this slogan “will not work in Maharashtra”, and emphasised that the focus should be on development.

However, Adityanath defended the slogan and alleged that the Opposition was the one dividing people along caste and religious lines.

In the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, the BJP won Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhawan and Khair seats and the SP secured Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki.

In the current Assembly, the Yogi BJP has 251 MLAs and the Samajwadi Party 105.

BJP allies, such as Apna Dal (Sonelal), RLD, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and NISHAD Party, also have members in the House. The Congress and the Jansatta Dal Loktantrik hold two seats each and the BSP one.
