Australia vs Pakistan 3rd T20I:Australia beat Pakistan 3-0, Stoinis blasts

Agha Salman (Pakistan Captain): “I think in the middle overs we didn’t capitalize the start. We kept losing wickets. Lots of positives, the way Irfan Niazi and Usman batted. The way Jahandad bowled today were positives and we will carry forward and come out good.

Its a big achievement for us to win one-day series in 22 years. We could have done in T20 series as well but we will work on whatever we did wrong and come out good again. Wherever we have gone the crowd’s support has been amazing. We are very thankful to them.”

Spencer Johnson (Player of the Series): “Yeah, wasn’t really expecting that. Great to be back in green and gold and happy to finish the series with a win.

Every opportunity to play for Australia is a good one and I’ll continue to do that.

Yeah I think it was a pretty nice wicket with the new ball. Babar played good strokes up front and we fought back really well with the ball by picking wickets.”

Marcus Stoinis (Player of the Match): “Nice to get some runs on a beautiful wicket but good to see guys taking those wickets. Haris is a brilliant bowler and has bowled brilliantly all series.”

Australia have hammered Pakistan by seven wickets with 50 balls to spare. Marcus Stoinis has made mockery of the chase as he remained unbeaten on 61 off 27 balls. Australia have chased down the total in just 11.2 overs with seven wickets in the hut. They have also won the series 3-0.

Stoinis hits another six to level the scores.

Marcus Stoinins brings up his fifty in style. He has smacked Shaheen Shah Afridi for a six, followed by a boundary and then another six to complete his fifty.

Inglis doesn’t have any pace to work with and ramps it straight to Rauf at short fine leg who completes the catch after a bit of a juggle. Abbas Afridi strikes for Pakistan.

Marcus Stoinis is taking on Haris Rauf. He has smoked 22 runs in that overs, two fours and two sixes.  Australia require 39 runs from 66 balls.

Short from Sufiyan, Stoinis rocks back and cuts it hard past Rizwan at backward point. At the end of eight overs, Australia are 57 for 2. Australia need 61 runs in 72 balls.

A boundary to end the powerplay. Josh Inglis taps it down between the wicketkeeper and the first slip. Australia are 43 for 2 after six overs.

At the end of the fifth over, Australia are 38 for 2.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Aqib Javed, a former international fast bowler, as the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Marcus Stonis greets Haris Rauf with a cracking shot. Stoinis gets on top of the bounce and with his quick hands blazes it through cover point for a cracking boundary.

Jahandad Khan picks up his maiden T20I wicket. After getting hit on the first ball, the youngster has struck, JFK walks back as he has hit one straight to point.

JFK ended the over with a boundary. Australia are 25 for 1 after three overs. Australia need 93 runs to win the match.

Josh Inglis is off the mark in style. Inglis gets on top of the bounce and punches it crisply in the gap between backward point and cover point for a boundary.

Shaheen strikes for Pakistan. Matt Short walks back on 5.

JFK almost clears the wide long on fence. He clears the front leg and hoicks across the line over wide mid on.

Jake Fraser-McGurk swings hard and gets a thick outside edge as it ran through backward point and third man.

Juicy half-volley from Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jake Fraser-McGurk dispatches it through the covers to get off the mark in style.

Innings of two halves for Pakistan. They got off to a flying start. They were scored 58/1 in the powerplay but things went downhill after that. They lost nine wickets for 56 runs as they have got bundled out on 117 in 18.1 overs. A fantastic bowling effort from Australia and they will be confident of chasing down this total and clean-sweeping the series. Aaron Hardie (3/21), Adam Zampa (2/11), Spencer Johnson (2/24), Xavier Bartlett (1/25) and Nathan Ellis (1/20) shared the prize.

Nathan Ellis gets his first over. Jahandad Khan walked back after scoring 5. Pakistan are nine down.

After the end of 18 overs, Pakistan are 117 for 9.

Bartlett gets his man. Shaheen walks back. He has coped a nasty blow on his bowling hand. He is looking in visible pain. Pakistan are eight down

Xavier Bartlett dugs it short and Shaheen pulls it over the square leg to hit the first six of Pakistan’s innings.

A couple of boundaries from Shaheen Shah Afridi’s blade helped Pakistan cross the 100-run mark. Pakistan are 107 for 7 after 16 overs.

At the end of 15 overs, Pakistan are reeling at 95 for 7.

Pakistan are falling apart here. Aaron Hardie gets this third wicket. Abbas Afridi walks back. A maiden over wicket for Hardie. Pakistan are 92 for 7 and at one point they were cruising at 58 for 1.

Irfan survived a run-out scare in the previous over but doesn’t survive this time. Another classical mix-up and no need to guess which team it is!

Adam Zampa has cleaned up Babar Azam. He has gone straight through him, Babar can’t believe how he has missed that one. Pakistan are 91 for 5.

Whipped it through midwicket. Back of a length pitched around middle and leg stump from Spencer Johnson. Irfan goes back in the crease, stands tall and pulls in front of square. Pakistan are 82 for 4 after 11 overs.

Aaron Hardie has trapped Salman Ali Agha and ended his miserable stay at the crease. Pakistan are all at sea in Hobart.

Just one run came from Adam Zampa’s second over. Pakistan are 67 for 3 after nine overs.

At the end of eight overs, Pakistan are 66 for 3.

Another one bites the dust. Aaron Hardie gets the wicket of Usman Khan. Reckless shot from Usman Khan. Pakistan have lost three quick wickets and are in all sort of trouble.

Adam Zampa strikes!

Zampa breaks the dangerous partnership in his very first over. Haseebullah’s luck ran out.

At the end of the powerplay, Pakistan are 58 for 1. 12 runs came from Nathan Ellis’ first over.

Here’s Nathan Ellis and Haseebullah goes deep in his crease and goes for a slog across the line but gets a leading edge that flies over short third man for a boundary.

An expensive over from Marcus Stoinis. Pakistan are 45 for 1 after five overs.

Depth touch this side from Babar. He just guides it past the third man boundary to get third boundary of this over.

Back-to-back boundaries for Babar Azam. Stoinis bowls it short on the body and Babar He whips it along the ground behind square in the leg side for another boundary.

Outstanding shot from Babar Azam. Stoinis overpitched, offered plenty of width, Babar shuffled across the stumps and drives it crisply past cover point for a boundary

A top edge and four. A sharp well-directed bouncer from Spencer Johnson, and Haseebullah goes for the pull but gets a top edge that flies in the vacant fine leg region for a boundary. Pakistan are 30 for 1 after four overs.

A couple of play and miss from Haseebullah. Only six runs came from Bartlett’s second over. Pakistan are 24 for 1 after three overs.

Haseebullah gets off the mark with a nice drive. Width over from Bartlett and he threw the kitchen sink at it—positive intent from Pakistan’s No 3.

Spencer Johnson digs in short and Sahibzada Farhan’s misguided pull shot was caught by Xavier Bartlett. Pakistan loose their first wicket in the second over.

Stand and deliver by Sahibzada Farhan. Not a bad delivery by Spencer Jhonson but Farhan will get his first boundary.

Babar Azam is up and running. It Bartlett sprayed on the pads and Babar flicked it for a boundary. Ten runs came from the first over.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan has been rested as Pakistan announced their Playing XI for the third T20I against Australia.

In the first match of the series, it was Glenn Maxwell’s robust 43 off 19 balls helped Australia thump Pakistan by 29 runs in a rain-curtailed match. In a seven over per side match, Maxwell powered Australia to 93-4 and Pakistan reached only 64-9 after slumping to 16-5 inside the first 15 balls.
